There might not be a better testament to the universal love of water parks than a blog post titled “What is Canada’s Biggest Waterpark?”.
Here’s what we mean. Considering the fact that the weather, even in Canada’s warmest regions, makes water park visits a possibility for six months of the year at best, and four months of the year for many people, there are still enough water parks to have a competition for the largest!
Put another way, we bet Canadian kids of all ages have a fast answer to the question “what’s your favourite water park?”.
And Canada’s Biggest Water Park Is…?
Opened in June 2010, the $65 million Calypso Waterpark in Limoges, Ontario, is Canada’s largest waterpark.
Located about a half an hour’s drive from downtown Ottawa, and about an hour and a half from downtown Montreal, the award-winning Calypso theme waterpark features 35 water slides, 100 water games, 2 lazy rivers and the largest wave pool in North America.
And that’s not all!
Always Something New – Almost from the moment it opened, Calypso Waterpark has regularly added water-play features. The opening of it’s second season saw the addition of the Summit Tower, the tallest free-standing waterslide tower in Canada.
Funtana for Toddlers – In 2018, Calypso opened the 36,000 sq. ft. Funtana, a play area devoted to children under 4 years of age and their families with a wide variety of spray park equipment designed especially for the toddler set.
Something for Everyone – In addition to all the water park attractions and play areas, Calypso features a number of restaurants, bars and fast food spots. For those looking for a quiet moment in the midst of all the fun, there are two VIP areas featuring private cabanas.
