3 Tips for Planning a Community Splash Pad | July 10th, 2018
July 10th, 2018
Whether your patrons are asking for one, or the powers that be have approved the development. There are a number of tips for facilities managers who must oversee a community splash pad installation project.
Community splash pads are one of the hottest trends for parks and recreation facilities. Consumers who have used and enjoy the water toys and equipment in larger water parks find it increasingly difficult to settle for the standard community pool.
Community Splash Pad Development Tips
Here are just a few tips to make managing the development of your community splash pad easier and smoother.
1) Visit Other Community Splash Pads
Whether there are other splash pad installations within your organization or just nearby, you can learn a lot from those who have already installed a splash pad and those who use them.
2) Choose Retrofit or New Installation
Splash pad products can be retrofitted to existing facilities or installed into an entirely new splash pad. The choice is yours. You can even combine the two by retrofitting an existing installation and expanding it.
3) Think About Your Patrons
When planning a splash pad, one size does not fit all. You should plan your splash pad with water toys designed for at least three different children’s age groups/activity levels.
A. Toddlers
Younger children prefer brightly-coloured water toys with gentle mists and streams.
B. Interactive Water Toys
All age groups enjoy playing having a water cannon duel. Waterpark equipment like water tunnels, water cannons, buttons, and dumping buckets can be enjoyed by many children at once.
C. Water Toys for High-Energy Play
Older children have more energy and they enjoy to go fast. This is where climbing structures and water slides come into play.
Of course, your budget, the space you have to work with and other specifics of your particular installation will need to be considered in the water park equipment you choose and the final layout of your splash pad.
